Managing Director

Dave's background in electronic and seismic engineering led to a 15-year career in project management worldwide. In 2003 he finally took the opportunity to pursue a lifelong passion for the potential of hydropower, and set up Mann Power Consulting Ltd as an independent consultancy. He is now a regular speaker at British Hydropower Association conferences and seminars.

One of the first challenges presented to MPCL was to find a hydropower solution for a community project in North Yorkshire, situated in a low-head site within a SSSI with particular stipulations for the protection of an endangered fish species. The result of extensive research into possible solutions culminated in the introduction of the Archimedean Screw turbine - already widely used in continental Europe - for the first time into the UK. MPCL now supplies this equipment throughout the UK and Ireland, as well as providing expert consultancy services.

Given that every hydro site has its own particular set of characteristics and potential challenges, MPCL now employs a small team to provide bespoke solutions for individual customers. Our services are divided into five stages of hydro scheme development:

2. Scheme Design
3. Licence Application
4. Construction and Project Management
5. Installation and Commissioning

allowing customers to cherry-pick the level of investment they wish to make at any given time.
